Exercise and How to Manage Stress
A condition of mental and emotional strain with demanding circumstances is what is referred to as stress. One is said not to be a good state of mind when they are stressed. Causes of stress are very numerous. People are affected by the causes of stress differently. Our workplaces can be our source of stress. Among the things at a workstation that can lead to stressful situations are long working hours, working under dangerous conditions, and also being unhappy with the job. The other category of stress is the life stress. These emanate from the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job, getting married and much more.
Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. It is possible to stress oneself by worrying about some things. The fear of certainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes can make a person worry a lot hence resulting to stress. Stress is a form of mental instability. This is why people are advised to try as much as possible to be stress free. Stress has negative health implications. These include a headache, fatigue, difficulty in sleeping and irritability. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. Several ways are used in the management of stress.
The simple tips of dealing with stress are as follows. Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol should be avoided by avoided when a person is experiencing stress. Nicotine and caffeine are examples of stimulants. These substances will increase the levels of stress rather than reducing. Aalcohol, on the other hand, is a depressant in large quantities but not an effective way of dealing with stress. Getting enough sleep is one of the methods of managing stress. Lack of sleep has been identified to be a cause of stress. There are certain relaxation techniques that can assist someone to reduce stress. Tests done to majority of these techniques confirm their efficiency.
Physical exercise is another method of managing stress. Stress is characterized by the increasing levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. The levels of these hormones can be increased further by doing exercise. It is not a must for someone to do a vigorous physical exercise to achieve this. One can even walk in fresh air. Working out on a daily basis is even a much better remedy.
The are several mechanisms on how exercise help to relieve stress. One of the direct stress-busting effects of exercise is that it pumps up your endorphins. The endorphins are known as brain’s feel-good transmitters. When someone exercises, they tend to forget about the irritations that they have had. Another way on how exercise reduces the stress levels is by improving someone’s mood. The symptoms of depression and increasing the confidence of a person are the ways that exercise assist in improving the mood of a person.
