Responsibilities of Owning a Puppy
Owning a puppy excites many people especially those who has children. Most people love dogs and when you see them walking down your street or in the park, you would soon envy its owner and would also want a pet of your own. Having a puppy is not like buying any items in the store since there are living creatures so before you buy one make sure that you are able to answer important questions about it.
There are a lot of responsibilities in owning a dog. Puppies cannot fend for themselves and so they are dependent on their owners to give them food and water every day. Your days will soon be centered around him and you will need to adjust your plan with him included in it. You should allow your dog to go outside once in a while and walk him down the street or in the park. When you own a dog you will also give second thoughts about going away on a vacation or sending the night out without making a plan and including the puppy in it. If you are going away, you should ask somebody close to you if he or she can take over the puppy responsibilities while you are away. You can put your dog in a dog boarding facility if you cannot find anyone to stay with your dog at home. Dogs really demand the attention of their owners so you should be willing to give them what they need. You should personally give them their food and take time to play with them outdoors.
Unlike cats, dogs are not very independent, and they look for human attention when left alone for a while. Dogs have more needs than cats and it is not possible to leave them for long periods of time. Full time workers who need to leave their pets all by themselves should remove the idea of having a dog from their minds. You can get a dog especially if you work at home, or if you have to go out to work, then you should leave someone there during the day to care for your pet.
The payment for the puppy is not the only expense you will incur for buying one. You will also have to consider other expenses like food, vet bills, flea and tick medication, and vaccinations. Weekly supply of food, toys, bowls for food and water, and a bed are also all necessary to purchase for your pet. A dog walker is also needed to walk your pet in case you can do I yourself. You need to pay for boarding facilities if you are going away for a while. Pet insurance should also be added to your expenses.
